New Features in Ripplr 1.6.0
Hello everyone!
We’ve added two new niceties in Ripplr this update. You can now fast reblog to your queue so you can trickle your posts throughout your queue schedule instead of reblogging right away. You can still reblog straight away with this setting on if you enter the full screen post view and hit the reblog button.
The old animated gif engine has been ripped out and replaced it with a much more elegant solution, not only will it crash less with gifs, we feel that its reliable enough to have it animate in the tile view so you immediately know if its animated!
As it was just approved by Apple, expect the update to come in a few hours. You can grab ripplr from this link.

We just updated Ripplr to fix a few bugs, notably a long passwords with symbols should be able to log in to Tumblr using Ripplr now. We tested up to 50 characters and as many symbols as we could find, if anyone still has trouble, drop us a line in our ask box or on Twitter.
Our next update fixes text entries with images, where the images would sit on top of the text.

Apple has just approved our newest update of Ripplr. It contains some vital bug fixes for people using iOS 4.x. A huge performance upgrade and some bug fixes. We’ve added a way to turn off Tweeting, just pop into the settings menu and you can toggle it there.

For the past week we’ve started seeing a lot more tumblr scams, free tickets, best buy, coffee. They all have the “Tumblr. Staff Blog” title to masquerade as legitimate deals, but they link you to advertisements and probably expose you to security exploits.
I have a few recommendations:
- Avoid clicking shortened links.
- Don’t put your Tumblr email and password anywhere. If the website or app is using oAuth or xAuth it should be okay. Unlike many other iPad Tumblr Apps we’ve implemented xAuth into Ripplr from the beginning.
- If you’re logging into Tumblr, make sure there’s a signed certificate. This is represented by a little padlock or a nice green block near the address bar, depending on your web browser. Click it to make sure.
- For the extra paranoid, change your passwords!

We don’t have that implemented yet, we’re trying to figure out the best way to implement it though. Its not so much a technical problem as it is to map it to the UI as not to confuse people.

To find it in the Ripplr App, just tap the Settings Cog and look for it under Store.

We were recently able to test Ripplr on iOS 4.x devices and we found it was inoperable! We spent a few days rejigging our code to be 4.x compliant and we have just submitted the app to the App Store.
So all those who rang in and told us about the black screen on startup, thanks for all your help! We were able to nail this one thanks to you all.
